10 Rope Skipping Benefits!

I’m not sure if you all know, but I love sports, exercising, going to the gym, walking, hiking… When I’m exercising it feels like heaven…

When it’s sunny during the week-end, I try to benefit as much as I can, so I go walking with my friend B. mainly on Sunday morning.

After a while, simply walking started to become a bit boring, and since we need to get rid of some extra cms, we decided to start rope skipping 😉

It was this Sunday actually, we were walking and suddenly a heavy cloud passed by, we ran to the car, it got sunny again.

So we put our sweatshirts aside, took out our ropes and started skipping 😀

1- It’s a really cheap sport, with 10$-20$ you can buy a rope a start skipping! It’s simple and discreet, you can put it in your bag and take it everywhere. You can get it from any sports shop, even toy stores.

2- It can be done by anyone, from any age group and gender.

3 – You can do it everywhere, in your living room, on your balcony, in your backyard, in the playground, on the marina…

4- It’s a fun and healthy sport to do with your friends, it develops a sense of teamwork and social skills in you.

5- It enhances your coordination and rhythm between hands and feet movements.

6- Strengthens your bones and increases your stamina and endurance.

7- It’s very helpful to lose weight:

Jumping rope for 30 minutes will produce a caloric burn of approximately 300 calories. So imagine if you can make it for 1 hour, you will lose 1000 calories! Not bad huh 😉

8- It’s a full body workout:

It works your legs, your abs, your arms, your heart, and even your mind. It increases strength, agility, speed, timing and rhythm. Its medium impact increases bone density, but isn’t as hard on your joints as running. It’s both a fantastic cardio and strength training workout all in one.

9- It’s fun, because it reminds us of our childhood, you won’t get bored with it, which means more exercise and closer to your target!

10- Finally, exercising with a jump rope is a great way to improve the muscle tone in your legs and lower body. The main muscles this applies to are the calves (bateit ejreykoun 😉 ) , shoulders, upper back and core. To make workouts more challenging and intense, use a weighted jump rope.

After the first day of jumping rope, you may experience some soreness in your legs, this is because the muscles have been working hard enough to cause microtears. These microtears will eventually heal themselves in a few days and because of this damage and repair, your muscles will be stronger, larger, and more toned than when you started the exercise.
