Collaboration With Nisrette From Smarter Life Tips And Tricks

I have been blogging for more than 5 years now, and sometimes blogging alone could be a bit boring.

I met an old friend of mine, Nisrette, a while ago. We were together in university, she had her 1st blog in 2013 under the LazyNiss, she used to blog about fitness and Beauty in Arabic. I featured here in one of my #MeetTheBlogger series, you can check it here.

Recently she created a new blog, where she will be blogging about Tips and Tricks for a Smarter Life!

And it hit us… Why not start a series of collaborations together!

Indoor Activities for Stormy Weather!

I had a call yesterday from an old friend Imad Bazzi asking me to go on his radio show فيا و ما فيا on Al Jadeed FM (90.3 FM) suggesting activities to be done indoors during the stormy weather.

fyawmafya

These are the activities I suggested:

– Go to the Mall:

shopping

For the shopping addicts out there, the stormy weather won’t stand behind you and your favorite shops. You can choose the closest mall to your location and wander for a long time… you won’t even feel the wind nor the rain 😉

– Go the Movies:

movies

For the movies geeks out there, you can always enjoy the latest movies in cinemas! Movie theaters are well heated, and you can enjoy your movie with your cheese and caramel popcorn 😉

– Go for a Coffee/ Tea:

If you’re just in the mood for sitting back, doing nothing, hanging around with your besties, the best thing you can do is head to your favorite cafe and chill out. You can also bring your favorite book or laptop.

– Go to the Gym:

gym

Yup, I can hear you saying, Nooo it’s too cold!

But No, i’m a gym freak and I also enjoy the gym in winter. Believe me, lifting weights will heat your body up making you forget all about the wind and hail outside!

– Just stay at Home!

If you’re too lazy, and don’t feel like getting out of your pajamas, you can always stay at home, watch your favorite DVD, enjoy your favorite wine and roast some chestnuts.

I can’t get enough of chestnuts? Do you?

Do you have any other activities in mind?

I would love to hear how you’re spending your time during this stormy weather!

5 Things I learned From The Dressember Challenge!

For all those who were following my pictures on Instagram, saw the dresses I wore during the whole month of December.

For those who missed it, you can check my introductory post about the Dressember 2014 challenge here and the last dress I wore here.

And this is what I learned from this wonderful challenge:

1 – I love dresses, I find them so easy to wear. And since I was deciding which dress to wear the night before, I managed to sleep 5 minutes more in the morning 😛 and it helped me become a more organized person.

2 – Pantyhoses should be created in a way to make the lives of women much easier. It would be great if it can be indicated which is the front side, which is the backside (Only Marie France had a sign). Because sometimes when it goes wrong, it can make your life hell trying to figure out how to wear it the right way…And with all the technologies out there, can’t they make the sheer pantyhoses unbreakable?!?!

3 – I discovered new fans to my blog, and we actually exchanged opinions about my dresses and we agreed that brown doesn’t look so good on me. Black and Red are the colors that suit me best!

4 – By adding accessories, like cardigan, scarves, hats, and different pantyhoses each time, the dress looked completely different. ==> If you get creative with the items you have in your closet, you won’t need to buy a lot of new items each season. Keep your money for the sales period 😉

5 – People are willing to collaborate and especially when it’s for a good cause. I was so happy to meet the creative Sarah Bond and had the pleasure to wear her signature Electric Thoughts dress!

Here’s a quick roundup of all the dresses I wore

I hope you enjoyed my Dressember challenge this year!

Would you join me next year?

Guest Post: 8 Tips To Stay Healthy During The Holidays

Guest post by: Fares Saad Professional Fitness Coach at Healthy Lifestyle

fares_saad

The holidays are one of the toughest times of year when it comes to your nutrition plan.
We have holiday parties, temptations at the office and who knows what else to deal with.

That being said, you do NOT have to just accept the fact that you are going to pack on the fat during the holidays. I hear a lot of people talking this way and it blows my mind!
They say – “oh I’ll just burn off the calories I ate at the party last night in today’s workout” (nice try – not going to happen) or “there’s nothing I can do … I’ll just start fresh in 2015″ (not true).

8-Tips-to-stay-Healthy-During-The-Holidays

But you can be tougher if you follow these tips

1- Be realistic

Don’t try to lose weight during the holidays, instead try to maintain your current weight.

2- Never go with an empty stomach

Never go to a party or for shopping while you’re hungry. This will only cause you to eat more throughout the night. Try to have a small snack before attending so you aren’t ravenous when you arrive.

3- Don’t skip your workouts

Most people have a little extra time available over the holiday season when they are not at work. Take this opportunity to hit the gym and exercise. This will help to burn off the excess calories and fat consumed over this period.

4- Stock up on healthy snacks

When you go shopping, be sure to pick with you some healthy snacks like fresh or dried fruits, sports bars and raw nuts.

5- Eat until you are satisfied

Don’t eat until you’re stuffed. Savor your favorite holiday treats while eating small portions. Sit down, get comfortable, and enjoy.

6- Drink plenty of water

Many people believe that mild dehydration may feel like hunger and the best way to avoid becoming dehydrated to drink plenty of water. You can also use water to slow down your eating by taking a sip or two between bites. Wine and cocktails can be a lot of fun, but they can also cause a lot of problems for your waistline. Have a glass or two of water before you start drinking alcoholic beverages, and have one in between drinks to slow down your alcohol consumption as well.

7- Act like an accountant

If you overeat at one meal go light on the next. It takes 500 calories per day (or 3,500 calories per week) above your normal/maintenance consumption to gain one pound. It is impossible to gain weight from one piece of cheese cake!

8- Be careful with Desserts

There is no one that will tell you to give up desserts at holidays.  Desserts are a huge part of what make the season so amazing.  But consuming too much of anything is a bad thing. First of all, if you know you’re going to be parked at the dessert table, modify the rest of your menu.  Load up on the lighter foods like your grilled vegetables, and salads.

Going Round & Round!

For my birthday, mummy wanted to gift me something nice, and deep from her heart. She surprised me by sewing me these adorable shorts ❤

Mum knows my love for colors, and to give me the fashionista look, she chose a winter fabric but with colorful circle prints.

I paired it with a black top and black heels and voila!

Love you mummy ❤

And Thank you Miro for being behind the cam :*

Violet Electra!

Fall is here, it’s time to renew our wardrobe as well as our make up.

One of the shades that I’m admiring this season is “Violet/Purple”.

The shades of the same palette like orchid, lilac and lavender are one of the hottest trends this year. What’s nice about these shades is that they are incredibly easy to pull off and can instantly brighten your face. Plus it’s actually a shade that can work on every eye color and skin tone.

purple (15)

Today, I played with Violet everywhere! I applied lilac eye shadow, macroviolet eyeliner, violet  lipstick and nail polish.

After applying the basics, concealer, and powder, I mixed two tones of purple eye shadow.

I used the sweet lilac by Clarins on the inner corner of my eyes, added a hint of smokey by Estee Lauder starting the outside corner of my eyes and make it fade away as approaching the middle.

Then a bit of the lightest eye-shadow under the eyebrows, and today I used the newest item in my makeup bag, the Naked Lunch Frost by MAC.

Then I applied the macroviolet gel eye-liner, also by MAC. It’s easy to use with the brush and it’s long-lasting.

Then I applied a coat of Black mascara by Maybelline, I could have added a hint of purple mascara, but I got lazy 😛

And for the Lipstick, I applied one of the favorite lipsticks that I have, the Violet Electra by Estee Lauder. It has a creamy and weightless texture, the color is so vivid, it illuminates my face 🙂

And the nail polish is Miss conduct by Orly.

What’s your favorite color this fall? Are you into purple tones?

I would love to hear your opinions 🙂
