GodFather event at Cavalli Caffe: Where Crime meets Fashion!


I got really excited after received an intriguing invitation in my inbox about a themed event: “GodFather” event in Cavalli Caffe. Dress code was chic Black & White!

But why was I so so excited? Since ever, Cavalli has always been one of my favorite brands ❤

And the idea of mixing between crime and fashion was enthralling!

I got there, to find surprises waiting for us; black hats, red roses, cigars and toy guns. Just like in the movie!

Fellows fashion bloggers, as well as food bloggers and a lot from the online community attended the event. The ambiance was really nice, the dress code colors were homogeneous with the interior animal print. Red lipstick and sangrias were adding color and life.

The food was appetizing, perfect temperature and taste!

I was invited a while ago to the HPE Clothing launching event by Trainstation, that was held at ABC Achrafieh.

Spring Brings Outsider Art Fair to New York May 8 to May 11, 2014

For twenty-one years, the Outsider Art Fair has been the world’s foremost annual show of Outsider, Self-Taught, and Folk Art. And for twenty-one years, the Outsider Art Fair took place in winter. In 2014, for the first time, the Fair will take place in the spring, from May 8 – 11 at Chelsea’s Center 548, the former home of the Dia Art Foundation, located at 548 West 22nd Street, New York, NY10011.

“For anyone who has been paying attention to what’s going on in the art world, the Outsider Art Fair is a must-see event,” says Andrew Edlin CEO of Wide Open Arts.

Wide Open Arts is pleased to announce its exhibitors for the 2014 Outsider Art Fair. OAF has always showcased work by artists who have been obscure, neglected, or invisible. Eleven galleries who’ve been with the Fair since the beginning will return, offering a mix of the newly discovered with works by legendary outsiders.  For the first time since 1999, Philadelphia’s seminal Fleisher/Ollman Gallery will be present. Other dealers from the original line up include Ames, American Primitive, Bonheur, Henry Boxer, Carl Hammer, Cavin-Morris, Gilley’s, Marion Harris, Ricco/Maresca, and Luise Ross.

With a total of 47 exhibitors from around the world, this year’s Fair features artists from countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo (where Rigobert Nimi makes intricate, science-fiction-inspired sculptures from recycled industrial materials, exhibited by Galerie Degbomey in Paris), New Zealand (where Susan Te Kahurangi King’s striking Donald Duck drawings from the late 1950’s will be shown by Chris Byrne and Marquand Books), and Brazil (where Alcides Pereira dos Santos made his biblically-inspired, boldly geometric paintings of nature and technology, exhibited by Sao Paulo’s Galeria Estação).

The 2014 Outsider Art Fair also welcomes new exhibitors like Marlborough Chelsea (soloing the embroidered cut-and-paste works by skateboarder Tony Cox), Hirschl & Adler (with drawings by Edward Deeds, a longtime Missouri state mental hospital patient whose work was rescued from a roadside trash heap) and Zieher Smith (featuring vernacular photographs from their recent acclaimed Photo Brut exhibition).

Absolut Lebanon – You Transform Today


I was invited a while ago to a party by Absolut, that was held at Concrete 1994, at Sin El Fil.
The aim of the party was to connect with the creative spirit in all of us and to inspire artistic transformation around the world.
There were live performances of musicians, dancers and DJs that took the mundane and the ordinary to the extraordinary.

Under the new brand ethos “Transform Today”, Absolut is collaborating with three cutting-edge artists who ignore fate and break boundaries, transforming themselves and their creative disciplines in the process. With the campaign, Absolut continues its long history of pushing the boundaries of contemporary culture to connect with the passions of a generation.

Continuing the brand’s history of championing the cultural impact of contemporary art, Absolut sought out collaborators with daring spirits and a dedication to continuously transform the possibilities of personal expression. Defining the cultural zeitgeist, the three collaborating artists craft their work by changing things, breaking things, challenging conventions and recreating themselves in order to become something more.

A French multi-talent who constantly transforms from illustrator to designer to director to musician.

 

Yiqing Yin
An emerging fashion designer from France who has  already challenged and transformed the traditional  world of haute couture.

 

Rafael Grampá
A Brazilian graphic novel artist who transforms  graphic design by looking at each page he creates  as choreography, not just simple storytelling.

“Transform Today” is a rallying cry for a generation of creativity  to break free from the idea that anything is predetermined and to take  control of their future. The brand ethos manifests our belief that  tomorrow is not a given, it’s for everyone to create.
The three creative collaborations were introduced to Lebanon in early February by using quotes from each artist to trigger the public’s curiosity, executed through outdoor and digital platforms.
The essence of these quotes was later revealed as an introduction for the campaign supported by the global visuals showcasing each artist’s work, in addition to a consolidated TV commercial that brings the campaign to life.

 

Absolut has always tapped into the transformative power of art and, in its upcoming activities, will dial-up even further its input by moving to the next phase of the campaign: the create phase.

DHL and IMG Fashion seek to globalize designers with DHL Exported

DHL, the world’s leading logistics provider, along with IMG Fashion, announced on February 5, the launch of a new program, DHL Exported, to support the fashion industry worldwide. This unprecedented program was launched to help designers who are already established in their local market and are gaining momentum internationally, to further their global footprint via the world’s most powerful fashion week platforms. Designers from around the world will submit an application package and select a foreign event of their choice: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week or Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo. A committee of regional experts in each of these markets will review applicants and decide which designer demonstrates the most promise to benefit from debuting their collections at the event.

DHL will sponsor a chosen designer for two consecutive seasons at each of the four Fashion Weeks. Designers will receive a guaranteed spot on the schedule along with a funded and produced runway show. DHL will also underwrite all logistic costs of producing the collection (i.e. international shipping and exporting of hard goods) as well as exporting the collection to New York, London, Milan or Tokyo for the designers’ runway debut.

 

IMG Fashion will open up the application process from February 17th through April 2nd at www.DHLExported.com. Finalists will be chosen in April for committee review and winners will be announced at exclusive press events in New York, London, Milan and Tokyo in May.

DHL’s unsurpassed commitment to supporting the needs of fashion professionals will foster the designers’ brands in new markets by enabling them to debut their collection on the runway in either New York, London, Milan or Tokyo”, said Arjan Sissing, Senior Vice President Corporate Brand Marketing, Deutsche Post DHL.

After the four winners have been announced in late May, DHL will support the designers’ journey from the outset of transporting fabrics and supplies for the collection to shipping the completed collection to the runway. To extend the reach and further support each designer, DHL and IMG Fashion are also creating an online portal that allows the designers to sell and ship their fashions around the world.

 

Application, program details, and nominating committee details are available at DHLExported.com. DHL Exported is supported by IMG Fashion, the British Fashion Council, Camera Nazionale Della Moda, and Japan Fashion Week.

 

During each Fashion Week, on-site stands will further promote the designer and allow attendees to browse through the designs and place orders. In addition, DHL and IMG Fashion will host leadership discussion panels at each Fashion Week about latest topics relating to the growth and development of fashion globally, including the influence of e-commerce. These discussions will feature industry experts, designers, buyers and journalists.

Family event with Volvo!


On Sunday June 16, Volvo had a family event, in their Badaro branch, during the afternoon. I went to check it out with my parents and with my nephew.

They had closed the road for their activities, with Volvo’s on the two sides.

There was a lot of games for kids to play with, and when they win they collect cards to exchange it with gifts afterwards.

There were many cartoons characters, like Goofy, cow, Hello Kitty, Barney…

Plus there was dancing shows, bicycle show…
