Indoor Activities for Stormy Weather!

I had a call yesterday from an old friend Imad Bazzi asking me to go on his radio show فيا و ما فيا on Al Jadeed FM (90.3 FM) suggesting activities to be done indoors during the stormy weather.

These are the activities I suggested:

– Go to the Mall:

shopping

For the shopping addicts out there, the stormy weather won’t stand behind you and your favorite shops. You can choose the closest mall to your location and wander for a long time… you won’t even feel the wind nor the rain 😉

– Go the Movies:

movies

For the movies geeks out there, you can always enjoy the latest movies in cinemas! Movie theaters are well heated, and you can enjoy your movie with your cheese and caramel popcorn 😉

– Go for a Coffee/ Tea:

If you’re just in the mood for sitting back, doing nothing, hanging around with your besties, the best thing you can do is head to your favorite cafe and chill out. You can also bring your favorite book or laptop.

– Go to the Gym:

gym

Yup, I can hear you saying, Nooo it’s too cold!

But No, i’m a gym freak and I also enjoy the gym in winter. Believe me, lifting weights will heat your body up making you forget all about the wind and hail outside!

– Just stay at Home!

If you’re too lazy, and don’t feel like getting out of your pajamas, you can always stay at home, watch your favorite DVD, enjoy your favorite wine and roast some chestnuts.

I can’t get enough of chestnuts? Do you?

Do you have any other activities in mind?

I would love to hear how you’re spending your time during this stormy weather!

Batroun… On a Sunny Day!

I don’t work on Saturdays and when the weather is good, I like to spend the day the right way!

Road-trips are my thing and if I have a good companion, I enjoy them more…

When I woke up this Saturday, the sun was shining so bright, as if it was calling me to go after it and what is the sun without the beach? ==> My destination was to one of the oldest cities in the world: Batroun!

Batroun 009

The name Batroun derives from the Greek, Botrys. Historians believe that the Greek name of the town originates from the Phoenician word, bater, which means to cut and it refers to the maritime wall that the Phoenicians built in the sea to protect them from tidal waves.

I parked my car and took a walk in the old souk, I never knew that the town boasts so many historic churches, both Catholic and Greek Orthodox. I visited two of the most attractive churches, St. Stephan Cathedral and Lady of the Sea Church. I wanted to see the St. Georges Cathedral from the inside, but it was closed.

As we walked further, we passed by the fishing port

As we were walking towards the Lady of the Sea Church, we passed by a calm and friendly street

A breathtaking view captured us when we reached the Lady of the Sea Church

Batroun 061

We were captivated by the beautiful sight of the blue waters and the ancient Phoenician wall that was built for protection from tidal waves

Batroun is one of the cities that I always admire no matter how many times I visit.

Have you been to Batroun Lately?

Ferdinand, A place for Good Food and Music!

A while ago I got the chance to visit the newly renovated Ferdinand Gastro-pub located in Mahatma Ghandi street right in the heart of Hamra.

The same spirit as before is still dominating the interior of the place, but with simple adjustments making even more enjoyable. The place is marked with leather couches, wooden tables and bar, candles and low lights.

We were greeted warmly, as we started discovering the diversified drinks menu and choosing what to eat. The menu is full of tasty items, from starters, mains, salads and dessert!

We tried the Devils on Horseback, cheese blossoms, and the burgers!

I enjoyed the place a lot, the music was amazing for a Saturday night and the food was so indulging. So if you’re passing by Hamra, you should definitely visit Ferdinand!

Goodbye Summer Party on the top of Square Lounge!

I am a summer person and it’s really hard for me to say goodbye to the season that is full of life, activities, parties and fun.

I should have posted this post a while ago, because the party took place at the end of September, but I still don’t want to let go…

Movenpick Hotel’s goodbye summer party was on top of the heap! We were well welcomed at the door of the hotel, with a special setting of the living fountain romanesque statue to take pictures, then we were accompanied to the Square Lounge.

The Square Lounge was full of good vibes, amazing beats and delicious bites.

Enjoying the breathtaking sea view, we were also entertained with acrobatic art and cute memes.

It was a splendid evening, wishing Movenpick Hotel a great winter season!

GodFather event at Cavalli Caffe: Where Crime meets Fashion!

I got really excited after received an intriguing invitation in my inbox about a themed event: “GodFather” event in Cavalli Caffe. Dress code was chic Black & White!

But why was I so so excited? Since ever, Cavalli has always been one of my favorite brands ❤

And the idea of mixing between crime and fashion was enthralling!

I got there, to find surprises waiting for us; black hats, red roses, cigars and toy guns. Just like in the movie!

Fellows fashion bloggers, as well as food bloggers and a lot from the online community attended the event. The ambiance was really nice, the dress code colors were homogeneous with the interior animal print. Red lipstick and sangrias were adding color and life.

The food was appetizing, perfect temperature and taste!

Thank you Cavalli Caffe for this offbeat event, and until next time :*

The Maison’s location offers guests the chance to conveniently dive at multiple atolls – something rare in the Maldives. On Noonu Atoll alone, there are 30 known dive sites, all within a 40-minute boat ride from the beaches of Randheli, including the renowned Orimas Thila site (Shark Point in Dhivehi, the local language), where guests have been lucky enough to see four shark species in just one dive, including the endangered Guitar Shark and the Leopard Shark, rarely spotted in the Maldives.

Snorkelling excursions to Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll – a marine protected area which is one of the most reliable places in the world to see endangered species such as Manta Rays and Whale Sharks, between May and November each year – are also available to guests, whilst advanced divers may in turn experience the thrill of drift dives at nearby Lhaviyani Atoll.

Will it be your next travel destination?

FIVE Things I’ve Learned From My FIVE Years Of Blogging!

Happy Monday everyone!

My day started as normal, having my cup of tea, checking my e-mails, social media channels… Until a lovely e-mail popped into my inbox:

Bonjour Chanty,

Votre blog fête ses 5 ans aujourd’hui !

I smiled and remembered the first day when I hit the button “Creer Votre Blog”.

Back then, I had no idea what a blog is, which platform to choose, how much effort it needed, how to sculpt it, create a fan base, get new ideas… I was clueless!

I remembered how my friend M. was there for me, encouraging me to write and always interacting with me. I remembered the awesome tweeps, who stood by me, helped me when I had a question, favorited and RTed my posts. I remembered that sometimes, I got ideas block and questioned myself if I should stop blogging. But you, my dear readers, were my strength, you gave me hope, courage and confidence! Each time I’m on the streets and someone stops me asking me if I’m Le Blog De Chanty, it gives me pride, and it assures me that I shouldn’t stop Blogging!

Here are 5 things that I have learned from my journey till today!

1- Don’t worry about Blogger’s Block!

who wore it best!

Who wore it best!

You will pass by days, you feel your head is empty, you have nothing to talk about, you have nothing new to share with your readers. IT’S NORMAL! Any blogger goes through this phase during his blogging life. Don’t panic! If you don’t feel like writing for a while, don’t! Take some time off, relax your brain, your thoughts and when ever you feel ready to get back to writing, you’ll discover a garden full of ideas!

2- Don’t say “YES” to just any brand!

bunny4

When you start taking blogging more seriously, you’ll be amazed how brands will jump to get their hands on you. Especially now in Lebanon, that bloggers are starting to have a voice and brands are starting to be more aware of that.

Brands like us and we like them too, but not just any brand! When you have reached a phase and you created an identity to your blog, some brands don’t fit in it and if you include them, you’ll be ruining your blog’s theme!

Be wise, build your own identity with time. It’s not easy, it might take a lot of time for you to really know what you really want to focus on, but you’ll get there. And when you do, stick to it!

3- Socialize!

Socializing is a crucial element in your blogging life.

You exist, behind your platform, your blog’s name, Facebook page, twitter account, Instagram filters… But people still want to know who you really are. They want to see how this person giving all those tips and tricks, looks like in real life.

This will bring you closer to your readers, you will start having deeper relationships with them, they will become your family. They will ask for things, and you will blog about them.

Not also you will keep a link with the exiting fan base, you will meet new people and your niche will grow stronger!

The purpose of socialization is to make your blog more open and attract the largest amount of readers possible.

4- Be there for others!

1

From the Oysho Yoga event!

I believe that Life is a give and take relationship. Be inspired and be inspiring.

I remember a lot of times when I had confusions, I used to asked other fellow tweeps / bloggers and we shared a lot together. This is how people grow!

5- Keep in mind your “Readers”!

wahab_dinner

Abd El Wahad 15th anniversary

Readers are the reason of your existence, that’s why you should always listen to what they tell you, and suggest to you!

Your posts should be dedicated to them, provide them with good quality, helpful posts. Reduce the text and include more visuals to keep them attracted!

In other words, if you don’t feed their appetite, they will stop coming back to you!

I hope my tips will be helpful to all the new bloggers, an I’m looking forward to know more about the blogosphere and will do my best to keep coming with attractive, and fashionable content.

Thank you all again for your support, I couldn’t make it without each and every one of you 🙂

You can show your love to Le Blog De Chanty on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
