Kiehl’s Now In Lebanon!

I was invited a while ago, with my fellow bloggers, to the launch of the American, unorthodox brand Kiehl’s!

After we got introduced to this innovative brand, I got more and more curious about it, because I haven’t tested it before, so I went to visit their branch in ABC Achrafieh to get more information.

A bit of History

Founded in 1851 by John Kiehl, Kiehl’s began as a homeopathic pharmacy located at 3rd Avenue and 13th Street in the East Village of New York City.

In April 2000, the French beauty and cosmetics company L’Oréal acquired Kiehl’sL’Oréal stated it planned “to increase the brand’s presence but maintain it as a luxury line rather than a mass-market one”.

About their Products

They have a wide range of skin care products for men and women, they also have products for body as well as for hair.

Since I have mixed skin, I learned more about their Oily Skin Care System: The 3 steps to healthier skin.

To prepare my skin in the morning, I should start with the Ultra Facial Oil free Cleanser, which thoroughly removes impurities and visibly reduces excess oil on skin’s surface, while leaving skin looking more balanced, and leaves skin clean and refreshed without over drying.

Then I use the Ultra Facial Oil Free toner which gently removes residue, dirt and oil without stripping skin of vital moisture.

And then apply the Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream, which visibly reduces excess oil on skin’s surface and Re-balances skin barrier for a smoother, fresher appearance.

If you still didn’t check their products, you definitely should and don’t forget to ask for your samples to test them at home!

November Birthstone: CITRINE

I am born in November and since I started admiring the world of gemstones, I started searching for my birthstone.

I found that there are two gems appropriate for November: The Topaz and The Citrine. But since my favorite color is yellow, I was attracted more to the Citrine stone, also known as the “healing quartz”.

citrine

Citrine is the traditional birthstone for November, and is an alternate Zodiac stone for Scorpio.

The name Citrine comes from an old French word, “citrin”, meaning lemon.

This golden gemstone is said to support vitality and health while encouraging and guiding hope, energy and warmth within the wearer.

This gemstone ranges in color from the palest yellow to a dark amber named Madeira because of its resemblance to the red wine.

The Romans were thought to be the first to wear the yellow quartz, crafting it into cabochon, or highly polished but unfaceted cuts of stone set into jewelry.

Citrine became more popular during the Romantic Period, when artisans often favored these warm colored gems to enhance gold jewelry.

Citrine, like all forms of quartz, was believed to have magical powers and was worn as a talisman against evil thoughts and snake venom.  It was also considered to have medicinal properties and was commonly used as a remedy for urinary and kidney ailments.

It is one of the most affordable of gemstones and plentiful in nature. Citrine is found most frequently in Brazil, Bolivia, and Spain. Citrine jewelry is given as the gemstone gift for the 13th and 17th anniversaries.

Woman Rider with Harley Davidson!

Harley-Davidson has seen an increase in Women Riders in the region over the past few years, and today Maya Nabhani from Lebanon is going to share with us her passion for Harley-Davidson.

Maya Nabhani Zeidan_1

1- Since when have you been riding a Harley-Davidson? And which one do you own?

I have been riding for almost two years. I own a 1972 Sportster.

2- Have you always wanted to have a motorcycle? And where did you learn to ride one?

The passion for motorcycles began when my husband bought a Harley and I started riding as a passenger. I learned to ride with a trainer here in Lebanon.

3- How does it feel when you are having a Harley-Davidson ride?

It is one of the most liberating feelings in the world. I feel that I am on cloud nine: one with the road and the wind. It gives me clarity and I can hear my own thoughts.

4- Where was the longest ride that you ever had?

The longest would have to be those I have joined for the Lebanon Tours.

5- Do you think your life has improved since you started riding a Harley-Davidson?

Definitely! In addition to the exhilarating feeling of riding a Harley and the joy it entails, I have met many people/friends who would have never crossed my path if it weren’t for Harley.

The Sportster is a line of motorcycles produced continuously since 1957 by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

Sportster motorcycles are powered by a four-stroke, 45 degree V-twin engine in which both connecting rods, of the “fork and blade” or “knife & fork” design, share a common crank pin. The original Sportster engine was the Iron-head engine, which was replaced with the Evolution engine in 1986.

Are you a Harley-Davidson fan? Do you own one?

I would love to hear your stories!

Splendid dinner at Mayrig!

I have been planning to visit Mayrig for a while now, until I went last week, to celebrate the birthday of my dear Armenian friend P.

Mayrig is a beautiful stone house located in the middle of Gemmayze. It is an Armenian restaurant that adapts the popular classics of Armenian cuisine, while generously borrowing from Lebanese and other Mediterranean influences.

In their menu, their chef uses spicy ingredients and dewy-fresh harvests from the entire region, to deliver their clients delicately hand-crafted creations

My friends and I tried a combination of the appetizers and main dishes. We had the Armenian tabboule, Itch, the famous Lahm Bi Ajin, Divine Su Beurek, Mouhammara, Manteh and Fishne Kebab. And of course we ended it up with different flavors of their delicious ice cream.

The interior setting is so charming and relaxing, it will make you wanna come back for more…
