Week-end Getaway: Mir Amin Palace

I had the chance to go last week end with one of my dearest friends to the Chouf district in Mount Lebanon.

Chouf

Light mountains covered with olive trees, fig trees and vines; blue valleys once the day ends or white when covered in mist  : The Chouf landscape is really enchanting!

Our destination was “Mir Amin Palace“; we drove along the wide, calm road that lead us to the magical Palace.

We arrived there late afternoon, just by the time to watch the sunset and enjoy our welcome drinks 🙂

Then we took a walk to discover more the magical Palace

Built by Emir Chehab II at the beginning of the 19th century, the palace was built on a Khalwa (Druze place of prayer) based on the maps of Italien Architects.

Overlooking the valley, set in 60,000 m2 of gardens, the palace with its wide tree lined avenues plays with the sun and its aspects.

Then we enjoyed our tasty dinner on the sound of the piano followed by bozo2 and arabesque music…

We woke up the second, had a nice walk around the Palace, discovering old houses, then had our royal breakfast and enjoyed the day by the uniquely designed pool…

Mir Amin Palace, the only luxurious hotel in Beiteddine, includes 24 rooms, individually and beautifully decorated.

You can enjoy a relaxing week-end or just pass by for a drink on the terrace where the views are spectacular. It’s also an amazing place for a wedding or for private parties.

And since last year, the Palace is functional during Summer and Winter!

On our way back home, we passed by the prettiest village in LebanonDeir El Qamar” meaning “Monastery of the moon” five kilometers outside of Beiteddine.

During the 16th and the 18th centuries, Deir El Qamar was the residence of the governors of Lebanon.

It is also notable for its 15th century Fakhreddine Mosque, Fakhreddine II Palace, and other historical places…

It was a great relaxing week-end, thank you D & C for your great company and thank you Mir Amin Palace for your great hospitality 🙂

I hope I was able to transfer my love to this part of my country… Stay tuned for other places to come 😉
